Leanne Ohta and Ana Magarin are the Maui Sugar Mamas. They are fun, dedicated mommies, hard-working business women and, ironically, are Dental Professionals who have the love and passion for baking. The two have been best friends for over 25 years and ventured into entrepreneurship when a friend suggested they collaborate with a coffee shop and sell their ono banana bread. That opportunity fell through, but their passion for baking allowed them to push forward and pursue their dream.
According to Leanne, “We established our business and brand in August 2016. Since then, we’ve been successful in growing our company through word of mouth and social media marketing. It’s exciting to see that our customers remember our recognizable name, logo and how it represents us.”
This dynamic cookie duo create a variety of crispy cookies packed with flavor, are bite size, and melt in your mouth. The flavors are unique, delicious and addicting so you can’t eat just one. It’s their version of a simple sweet indulgence with a twist. Quality is important to them so their cookies are hand scooped, baked and sealed so you are able to enjoy your cookies at its peak of freshness.
Maui Sugar Mamas’ year round selections include their Signature Chocoholic Chip Cookies, Coffee Lava Cookies, and Passion 8 Bliss Cookies. They also have specialty and seasonal cookies when available. In additional, they continue to develop new flavors with distinct names to satisfy their customers’ cravings. Their products are great for snacking, gifting for all occasions and holidays, and Omiyage when traveling.
Currently, the only way you are able to purchase their goodies is through special order or through events like the Ben Franklin Craft Fairs and now at the Made in Maui County Festival event.
This November will be their first year at the Made in Maui County Festival and on top of having their three popular flavors mentioned above, they will be unveiling their new cookie “Da Big One” which is a crisp caramel coffee flavored cookie. It can’t get any sweeter than that.
